Dàlǐ 大理市

Short, unexpected trip to Dali, Yunnan. We only stayed there a day and then got standing tickets to Lijiang (next post). Loved the street clothes, textures, textiles and colors, not to mention the beautiful views from the mountain. I somehow messed up the settings on my camera and took all low res shots :`( which I am more than bummed about because I can never make prints of these.
Anyway, you can still have a taste :)

Chinese "buffet"

Working on homework after school in the streets.

Grass roof.

Watching kids get out of school from the inside of a basket and jewelry shop.

Snack vendor.

He took his shoes off.

Shoes!

So many intricate textiles and patterns.

Most streets have this view.

Trinkets.

Bike rim light in an impressive jewelry shop.

Traditional architecture.

Street style.

Temple in progress.

Local.

Antiques.

Many places to discover.

Old gravestones on display.

Everyone wanted to touch that stone for luck (or some sort of good fortune).

Goat cheese, which I probably should have tried, but didn't. Next time.
They fry it and put chocolate sauce on it.

Every day blue.

The streets are alive at night too.

We decorated cards.

Giant ma jiang.

We took that lift to get to a part of the mountain
we could hike.

Who goes hiking in high heels?!
You should have seen her walking across the moving bridge, haha.
